Return from Sabbatical

Any of you working in the automotive industry will share in my pain as this industry goes through it's much overdue transformation.

I would like to say that the excess work associated with these conditions has caused my absence (which it did somewhat), but it was more just a falling off the wagon.

I'm back...sort of...for the most part this will be a running/nutrition related "diary"..that means none of the deep insightful posts that nobody reads anyway.

My short term goal is to complete the Detroit (Half) Marathon in under 2:15, PR for this distance is 2:05ish.

I am currently building back up to 30 minutes straight of running and am at Walk2Run8.

Things are not working so well...

I am not starting the year out well, except at work!

To put an end to this and in line with my type a personality, I've implemented the following actions:

1. Weight - There is a betting pool at our office over who can lose biggest %age over 10 weeks. I've put my $20 in with a goal to lose 15lbs in 10 weeks. Easily doable and now that I have a goal, I will accomplish.

2. Exercise - I'm awake in the morning, but not taking that first step out of bed. I need a goal to force me along. I tried to sign up for the Detroit Half Marathon yesterday but it is not open for registration yet. I will be signing up as soon as possible.

The End is in sight


I have theoretically been on vacation since Wednesday through the end of year based on my remaining vacation. That didn't stop at least 10 hour days Wed/Thurs and a 1/2 day of negotiation today. I will also be showing up on Mon and Tues.

I did get in 30 min on treadmill this morning + two bouts of snow clearing.
