Balancing BBQ and BQ

A log of my training in attempt to Boston Qualify by 2011 er...2012. I intend to use this attempt as an incentive to get back into good physical condition and also find out a little about myself in the process. The issue is that I love food, the more decadent the better.

Don't we all wish (or at least most of us)that we could someday do this.

Background

During my high school days, I was an underachieving, but somewhat talented distance runner. In track, I ran the 1 mile (PB: sub5), and 2 mile (PB: 10:13). I also ran cross country. Varsity in both sports. I earned a few medals, but looking back I wasted a natural ability. Used to run road races as well. During college, I found the joys of beer and girls, and most physical activity went away - with the exception of some mountain biking. I ballooned up to a high of 235lbs. Oh yeah, by the way, also broke my back in a drunken fall. Fast forward to today, I was out of shape, approaching 40, and disgusted with myself. Let's see how my plan to use road racing as an excuse to get back into shape works.
