The End is in sight

I have theoretically been on vacation since Wednesday through the end of year based on my remaining vacation. That didn't stop at least 10 hour days Wed/Thurs and a 1/2 day of negotiation today. I will also be showing up on Mon and Tues.
I did get in 30 min on treadmill this morning + two bouts of snow clearing.

Regression
re·gres·sion
n.
1. Reversion; retrogression.
2. Relapse to a less perfect or developed state.
3. Psychology Reversion to an earlier or less mature pattern of feeling or behavior.
4. Medicine A subsidence of the symptoms or process of a disease.
5. Biology The return of a population to an earlier or less complex physical type in successive generations.
6. Statistics The relationship between the mean value of a random variable and the corresponding values of one or more independent variables.
7. Astronomy Retrograde motion of a celestial body.
8. Geology A relative fall in sea level resulting in deposition of terrestrial strata over marine strata.
I have bolded the ones most pertinent to me. I did not run on Sunday after enjoying a fine meal of wine, caesar salad, a rustic italian fresh loaf, and homemade steak tartare - instead I schlepped around doing a fine job of doing nothing.
So we now have four weeks in a row of less than desirable results after a promising start. I would like to point to the fact that I am more than likely burned out a little from work BUT as my favorite english teacher used to tell me when she was pushing me to excel - EXCUSES DON'T CHANGE THE FACTS.
Based on this regression, I'm revising my plan because of most importance is that I build a solid aerobic base. Of equal (more) importance is that I get control of my nutrition. I'm never going to be one of those obsessive Lance Armstrong weighing everything people (reference the meal above and the title of this blog), but I need to get back to the structure I had when I weighed 14 lbs. less than today.
I have confidence that I can get there.

Finding Time
So I was wide awake at 4:15AM after going to bed last night at after 11PM (watched Michigan State get smoked by North Carolina in B-ball). A little automotive industry stress alarm clock I guess...I didn't use the time wisely to get a run in - instead I went into work at the ass-crack of dawn. This the day after successfully navigating a business review meeting with the C-level execs of my company. You would think I'd breath a sigh - but in this industry anyone who doesn't have one eye over their shoulder is crazy.
In any case, I haven't run since Saturday for the following reasons:
Sunday - 7 hour, 380 mile car drive
Monday - 14 hour work day
Tuesday - 14.5 hour work day
Wednesday - 11 hour work day + 2 hour subdivision board meeting...and some time seeing my son awake for first time since Sunday. After I put son to sleep, I decided to go grab a well deserved cold beer at a bar & grill that just opened within walking distance of my house...no luck....what decent bar & grill closes before 10PM in the evening?
I hope to run tonight and then tomorrow I'm taking a day off, so I hope to get back at it.
Oh, yeah...damn those Kroger Peanut Butter Cookies, damn them to hell....
